Guzheng
ABOUT THE CCA
Our Guzheng Ensemble, established in 2000, aims to foster a deeper understanding
and appreciation of Chinese musical heritage. Through learning and performing
on the guzheng, we seek to nurture cultural appreciation among our members.
In recent years, we have also welcomed non-Chinese students into our ensemble,
reflecting the inclusive and diverse spirit of our community.
By refining their instrumental technique and musical interpretation, members cultivate passion, self-discipline, and perseverance in their pursuit of musical excellence. To further their learning, students are encouraged to pursue recognition through nationally accredited guzheng grading examinations, which affirm their musical achievements and deepen their understanding of the art form.
Students are given numerous opportunities to perform both within and beyond the school. The ensemble frequently showcases its talents at major school events and national platforms. At the biennial Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation, we are proud to have consistently attained the highest distinction, a testament to our members’ dedication and teamwork. Beyond school, our ensemble also shares the beauty of Chinese music with the wider community through performances at events such as the Lunar New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations.
Through these rich and meaningful experiences, we hope to deepen students’ appreciation for traditional Chinese music, enhance their musicianship, build confidence, and stretch their creative potential. Most importantly, we strive to help every member forge lasting friendship and a strong sense of unity through shared passion and collaboration in music-making.
