Students excelling in STEM at Clementi Town Secondary School would be provided with numerous opportunities to participate and excel in various STEM-related activities and competitions such as the Science-in-Action Research Mentorship Programme, Singapore International STEM Innovation Challenge (SISTEMIC), Swift Accelerator Programme, the National Olympiad for Informatics, the First Lego League Competition, as well as STEM-related enrichment activities such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) Bootcamps and the Swift Coding Club programme.
This authentic, hands-on approach offers ample opportunity for students to acquire and practice essential 21st century skills such as creative problem-solving, teamwork and analytical thinking. Coding lessons for Lower Secondary students during Project Work
In this Direct School Admission Exercise under STEM - Science and Technology, we are looking for promising Primary 6 pupils who exhibit the following*:
- Very Good Conduct
- Demonstrate special talents in Science, Robotics or Computing (e.g. Scientific Investigation, robot design and programming, app coding, micro-controller programming)
- Represented school and achieved accolades in Science and / or Robotics/Computing-related competitions (e.g. Singapore Primary Science Olympiad (SPSO), National Junior Robotics Competition)
- Preferred to have held leadership position(s) in Science / Robotics / Computing-related clubs or societies (e.g. Science Club, Robotics Club, Infocomm Club)
- Have some background in Scientific Investigations or coding (applicants may wish to submit and showcase a portfolio of the Science experiments or computing programmes which they have created)
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to Clementi Town Secondary School for a selection exercise consisting of performance tasks and interview in July 2023.
Students will be assessed on both their demonstrated and potential ability and qualities, so as to ensure that they benefit from the rigorous curriculum offered at CTSS.
Students who are successfully admitted to the school via DSA are expected to honour their commitment to the school, and participate in the activities related to the talent they are selected for from year 1–4. Students will also be assigned to a related CCA based on their DSA application.
Successful applicants will join CTSS in January 2024.
