National Poetry Recitation Competition 2023
Over the past month, 5 of our Clementeens took part in the National Poetry Recitation Competition organised by Poetry Festival Singapore.
Alastair Chua Haw Chong (S4-VB), Dylan Tay Yu Han (S3-SC), Grace Abigail Liu (S4-DC), Ng Li Hui (S2-OD) and Roma Shasi Kumaar (S2-DC) had to analyse and unpack poems before recording videos of themselves reciting the poems and capturing the essence and emotions in the pieces.
We are thrilled to announce that Grace Abigail Liu and Roma Shasi Kumaar made the finals of the competition after being selected out of over 200 entries. At the finals held on 29 July, Abigail and Roma went on to clinch the “Champion” and “2nd Runner Up” prizes respectively for the “Secondary” category! Abigail was also awarded the “Prof Edwin Thumboo Award”, and Roma the “Dr. Oliver Seet Award” for their immaculate performances!
We are extremely proud of Abigail and Roma, as well as Alastair, Dylan and Li Hui, for showing tremendous tenacity and skill in preparing for this competition and doing the school proud!
